The Eastern North Carolina Alumni Chapter is proud to present an exclusive screening of "SHAPING the FUTURE" a compelling documentary that dives deep into the life and impact of Lance Collins on Southern California's surf culture. Co-directed and produced by ECU alumnus Tony Gentile ’04, your evening will include a free screening of the film and the opportunity to converse with Tony about Collins’ legacy, as well as his own personal journey from ENC to Los Angeles. A nubile young performer and an aging Hollywood actress battle for the attentions of a successful novelist, while an aspiring playwright rages against the art of his mother’s generation. Blending humor and drama, the adaptation stages an insightful battle between youth and experience, and the heart-wrenching realities of love, art, and the inevitability of aging. Here, disappointment is as natural as life itself. But remember, out of disillusionment, comes enlightenment. With original songs by James Sugg to give a glimpse into the inner thoughts of Chekhov’s characters, Stupid F**king Bird will spur audiences to consider how art, passion, and innovation inspire realization.
