Learn More About This Year’s Artist

This year we have developed a model for the Alexander Series which will combine two distinct and complimentary series—the Fletcher Series and the Wright Series.

The Fletcher Series, located in A.J. Fletcher Recital Hall, will host the first three performances of the season in the fall. The goal of this series is to offer a more intimate setting in which to enjoy music suited to the size and acoustics of this space.

In the spring, The Wright Series, in Wright Auditorium, will host three more performances in the Spring for our larger scale productions.

    About the series

The S. Rudolph Alexander Performing Arts Series effectively began when Rudy Alexander arrived at East Carolina in 1962 and bundled four student-selected classical offerings into a subscription package. Since that time, the series (with Arts Smart and Family Fare) has presented more than 600 world-class artists and served nearly one million patrons, university and K-12 students. Today, the series continues a tradition of presenting the best-performing arts touring attractions available for the enjoyment of regional audiences and the edification of ECU students. Behind the scenes, our guest artists are actively engaged in master classes and workshops. Performances are presented in the 1,483-seat Wright Performing Arts Center located at the core of East Carolina University’s main campus.
