Arts Smart Event Information:
Placing your order:

ORDER ALL ARTS SMART SEATS THROUGH THIS PORTAL. Arts Smart is intended for school groups arriving by bus to provide field trip opportunities. These tickets are steeply discounted to support K-5 learners across a 13-county area. All performances are held on the campus of ECU in Wright Auditorium.

All Arts Smart ticketing is in advance. No tickets are sold at the door.

As a courtesy, school groups may pay by check (due two weeks before the performance). You’ll receive an invoice upon registration and then have the flexibility to adjust the final numbers as the performance date nears. Due to schools that have registered and canceled (which prevents other schools from attending), Arts Smart will bill any school that cancels fewer than 60 days before a performance for the amount indicated in the initial invoice.

Additionally, any school that has canceled more than once will be required to pay by credit card to attend future performances.

Performance Information:

In the Spring of 2025 Arts Smart will host two events.

  • Underneath a Magical Moon at 9 am and 12 pm
  • My Robot at 9 am and 12 pm

The performances run for approximately 60 minutes with no intermission. Plan on arriving no later than 8:45 am for the 9 am performance and 11:45 am for the 12 pm performance, as it takes considerable time to seat as many as 1,483 students in our venue.

Car Parking for Chaperones or Groups Arriving by Car

Chaperones and groups arriving by car: Please report to the parking garage at the Main Campus Student Center, located off Tenth Street at Charles Street (one block from Charles Boulevard at Krispy Kreme and McDonald’s). It’s an airport-style garage that charges $1/hour via cash or card at a kiosk. All other parking on campus is by permit only. Plan on a leisurely 10-minute walk to the venue from this location (approximately two lovely tree-lined blocks).

For a successful educational field trip, please note the following:
  • Build extra travel time into your schedule.
  • Give us great contact information, including your cell phone, so that we can reach you in an emergency or a day-of-show development.
  • We email arrival maps and materials about four weeks before each performance. Read and share this information with your team, especially your bus driver. Note that your driver must remain with your bus to restage offsite during the performance because we don’t have enough space on campus to accommodate all vehicles.
  • Due to hosting two events in Wright Auditorium back-to-back, we will not be able to hold buses at Wright for your group to stay for lunch. If you plan to stay for lunch, we highly recommend loading into your bus and heading to 1st Street to the Town Commons Park. There is ample parking along 1st Street or at the ECU Willis Building parking lot off of 1st Street.

About 2025 Arts Smart Performances

Underneath A Magical Moon

Friday, February 21, 2025 9:00 a.m. & Noon | A reimagining of Peter Pan as told by Wendy Darling… Wendy gazes out at the night sky dreaming of blue lagoons, magical moons and most of all, stories. And tonight, there’s magic in the air... Fly with Wendy and her brothers as they create the world of Neverland, where time stands still and the impossible seems possible. Even everyday objects become extraordinary under the magical moon. A sparkling new production written by international award-winning writer Mike Kenny, scored with exquisite live music and songs, enthralling movement and a sprinkle of fairy dust.

My Robot by Finegan Kruckemeyer

Friday, April 4, 2025 at 9:00 a.m. & Noon | When Ophelia’s family decide to move to the seaside, she’s not impressed. She doesn’t like the beach, or the people, or the farawayness of the life she once knew. But she does like inventing. So when a mysterious box full of gadgets, and a strange note that reads ‘You Make Me’ arrives in her bedroom one night… she invents a solution. Together Ophelia and her robot friend Olivetti (played in its world premiere production by an actual robot!) will thwart bullies, build bridges and enact daring rescues on angry oceans, along the way learning that if one piece goes missing it can take a great effort, to find that lost something and fill up the gap. But sometimes the answer’s not to look where you left it – but to make something new. And be happy with that.
